Care of Young Women

After care Program
In the spirit of Amy Carmichael’s conviction that love must accompany a child “all the way home,” the Dohnavur Fellowship continues to walk with our children long after they turn 18. We remain committed to supporting them until they are fully equipped to stand on their own—secure, confident, and rooted in the values they have grown up with.
Our After-Care Program provides a safe and stable environment as they pursue higher education in colleges, training centres, or professional institutions across Tamil Nadu. This requires constant guidance, travel, and supervision from our team to ensure their well-being and successful completion of coursework and internships.
Upon completing their studies, each young woman is invited to serve for a year in the Fellowship. This season of service is shaped by Amy’s vision of discipleship through daily life—learning simple living, sharing in the work of the Mission, and receiving spiritual nourishment through fellowship, prayer, and the quiet example of the sisters and brothers. During this time, we also conduct workshops and training sessions to strengthen soft skills, character, and employability.
For those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, we offer an opportunity to study at our own Nursing School, which provides a two-year diploma with residential facilities at a subsidized cost.
As they step into the wider world, we guide them in finding safe and suitable jobs, encourage them to return to serve the Mission, and, when needed, support them in arranging their marriages and settling into family life. In all this, our desire is to reflect the heart of Christ by accompanying each young woman with steadfast love, practical care, and the hope Amy Carmichael cherished—that every life entrusted to us may shine with God’s grace.
